County Junior Team Championship Rules

Conditions of Play, Qualification, Entry and Prizes
1. Conditions of Play
a. The championship shall be played over 18 holes, Handicap Stableford
i. Boys play off YELLOW tees
ii. Girls play off RED tees
iii. There will be a maximum of 24 Teams
b. Each Club team shall consist of 3 players (Boys, Girls or Mixed)
c. Caddies must be under 18 on 1st January on the year in which the championship is being played
2. Qualification
a. Each affiliated GLCGA/GGU Club shall be eligible to enter up to 2 teams to compete in the tournament.
b. The choice of team selection shall be at the discretion of the Club
c. Players must be in possession of a Handicap Index not exceeding 36.0
i. If an entry is accepted for a player with a higher handicap index, their playing handicap will be limited to the equivalent of a 36.0 handicap index
d. Each member of the team must:
i. Be under 18 years on 1st January in the year the championship takes place
ii. Be a current member of the Club they represent
iii. Have nominated the Club as her/his Home Club for handicapping purposes
iv. Not have played for any other Club in any competitive event during the current season within the County in which the Club is affiliated
3. Entries and ballot
a. The cost of each entry shall be £40.00 per team of 3
b. If more than the maximum number of teams enters the championship, then the holders of the trophy and the host club will gain automatic entry. Priority will then given to 1 team per club, with a ballot for places if necessary based on date of entry, with the earlier entrants given preference. If space remains in the draw, second club teams will be accepted, with a ballot for places if necessary based on date of entry, with the earlier entrants given preference.
4. Prizes
a. The winning Club shall be the Club with the highest aggregate Stableford score over 18 holes, taking the best 2 18-hole scores out of 3
b. The winning Club shall be the County Junior Team Champions and will be awarded a trophy that will remain in the possession of the GGU
i. Mementos or vouchers shall be awarded to members of the winning, second and third placed teams
c. The winning Club will be invited to send a team to represent Gloucestershire in the England Golf Junior Champion Club Final in August 2025
i. The winning Club will receive some financial assistance towards the cost of accommodation from the County Union
5. Practice rounds
a. Practice round arrangements will be communicated to competitors together with tee time allocations
