Duchess Salver

The Duchess Salver was presented to the County by J.K.R Graveney during his term in office as County Captain in 1972, and is the Gloucestershire Order of Merit for amateur golfers.

For many years it has been the most important indicator to County selectors of a players current form and ability. The event boasts a very fine list of previous winners, many of them former internationals including both Gordon Brand Jnr and Chris Wood who have both gone on to become successful European Tour professionals.

It is essential that all players who want to achieve County honours ensure that they enter as many of its events as they possibly can.

Rules

  • To qualify for points, players must have a home club that’s affiliated to the GGU
  • If a player with a home club outside of the GGU finishes in the top 24 then any points they might have earned are discarded
  • If two or more players finish in a tie for any given place, then all players earn the same number of points e.g. if three players record the same score over 36 holes leading to a tie for 3rd place then all players would receive 50 points. The next player(s) would then receive 30 points i.e. those that are relevant to 6th place
  • No account is taken of any steps that the host club take to resolve ties in the 36 hole scores for prize giving purposes (e.g. back 18, 9 etc) WITH THE EXCEPTION of a play-off to decide the winner.
  • In the event of a playoff to decide the winner of any given event, 100 points are awarded to the player who is successful in the play-off. All other eligible competitors in the play-off would receive 65 points
