County U18 Boys Championship - Rnd 1 Rules

Conditions of Play, Qualification, Entry and Prizes
1. Conditions of Play
a. The Championship shall be stroke play played over 36 holes
b. There will be a maximum of 60 competitors
c. Caddies must be under 18 on 1st January on the year in which the championship is being played
2. Qualification
a. To be eligible to enter a player must:
i. Be in possession of a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 28.0
1. The Championship committee may decide to accept an entry from a player with a handicap index higher than the maximum handicap index detailed in the terms of competition
2. If such an entry is accepted, the player’s playing handicap will not be limited in any way
3. Such an entry will only be accepted if space exists after the entry deadline is passed
ii. Have been born in the county or be a current member of a GGU affiliated club
iii. A competitor must not have taken part in a golf championship of another County affiliated to England Golf or have represented another County, including friendly matches during the current calendar year.
iv. Be under the age of 18 years on January 1st in the year the Championship is to be played
3. Entries
a. Entries to the Championship should be sent to the County Secretary to reach him before 16th June 2024 together with an entry fee of £20.00
b. Where entries exceed 60 there will be a ballot amongst the highest handicaps to reduce the entries to that number
c. Order of Play and Starting Times will be sent to competitors via email if provided
d. It should be clearly understood that the winner of the Championship will be expected to represent the County at the English Junior Champion of Champions Tournament held in September 2024
4. Prizes and Vouchers
a. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes.
i. The winner shall be awarded the Tait Cup that will be retained by the GGU
ii. In the event of a tie for the Championship the winner shall be decided by a sudden death play-off
b. The competitor returning the lowest net score shall be awarded the Scott-Cooper Cup that will be retained by the GGU .
c. The competitor aged under 17 on the 1st January previous and who returns the lowest gross score shall be awarded the Leslie Cox Cup that will be retained by the GGU
d. No competitor may win more than one prize voucher
e. First and Second prizes will be awarded for both gross and net scores
5. Practice rounds
a. Practice round arrangements will be communicated to competitors together with tee time allocations
