Brimsham School win English Schools National Title

I am very pleased to let you know that Avon Schools’ team from Brimsham Green School has won the 2022 English Schools National Team Championship at Woodhall Spa’s Bracken Course:

Harry Warren – The Players Club                        Luke Hodge – The Players Club                          Toby Janes – The Kendleshire

The trio posted an impressive combined Stableford score of 77 to claim the national title by two points from their nearest challengers around the Bracken course in windy conditions.

Harry Warren also won the individual event with 42 points.

The experience of playing at Woodhall Spa has been brilliant for them and, no doubt, has been even more special, walking away as winners of the trophy.

Harry commented: “It feels good [to win]. It was a very nervous wait for us because there were a lot of good players still out on the course when we finished”.

He also had high praise for the condition of the Bracken Course, testament to the excellent work of the greens staff at Woodhall Spa, the home of England Golf and the National Golf Centre.

“The greens were rolling nicely and the fairways were bouncing so the course was in great condition,” he added.

Really enjoyed the day - everyone was friendly.  Quite nervous, but excited.  Really pleased with the result. I loved playing at Woodhall Spa although very tired now!!!

Luke said:

The greens were really nice - also the tees were in good condition.

It was well organised by England Golf, with nice people, and referees did their job very well. It was a great honour to win the event with my team Harry Warren and Toby Janes.

Toby commented:

Loved the course at Woodhall Spa and really enjoyed the event.  My scoring wasn't great but never mind - a great experience

Very well done to them all for their team efforts and great success!

Gloucestershire Schools’ Katherine Lady Berkley School finished in 22nd place:

James Austen – Chipping Sodbury                          Luis Brain – The Players                                Charlie Jenkins – Thornbury

James Austen finished in 10th place in the individual event.

Well done to all of these players for their efforts as well.
