U16's WIN against Worcestershire at Rodway Hill GC

The course was presented in very good condition. We were expecting overcast conditions however the sun stayed out for most of the day.

With quite a lot of uphill slopes to contend with one of the challenges was avoiding leaving approach shots short. The greens were quite slow but appeared to suit our team.

We began the morning with Foursomes match-play and got off to a great start winning the morning pairings 4.0 to 1.0.

We went into the afternoon with high hopes for our singles match-play. Building on the mornings momentum there was some spectacular play. We won the first three matches, halved the fourth, lost the 5th, won the next three and with great excitement watched on as unfortunately we lost the last. - It was our day,

Worcestershire played well but we had the upper hand and held them at bay to end the day 11 to 4.

Our U16 team showed great attitude and level of application throughout. Their spirits were high, you can see that from their smiles in our post-match photo.

A special thank you to Alex Hawes-Nunn who joined us from the U14's and Felix Chippendale who made his first U16 County debut. Parents watched-on and helped with ball spotting. Vice President Richard Salter unfortunately was unable to attend, his presence and support was missed by all.

Thank you to the Worcestershire team, Mark & Kevin to The Rodway Hill Captain Steve who gave us a warm welcome, and to Liam's team who provided the catering and pleasant hospitality.
