2024 Junior Channel League Finals RESULTS

Channel League Finals Day  -  Sunday 13th October 2024 - Tredegar Park Golf Club

Acting Captain Finn Ellis (Bristol & Clifton) and his team ... Ambrose Eaves (Broadway), Jackson Wojahn-Parker (Broadway), Jaxon Perry (Kendleshire), Joel Warne (The Players) and Oscar Linton (Bristol & Clifton), arrived at a rather wet Tredegar Park Golf Club to play in the Channel League Finals Day.  The course was set up for winter golf with the tees set a long way forward of their normal championship positions, so with the weather being dry and still on the day, it made for some very good scoring with the greens receptive after several days of wet weather.

The teams comprised of four Under 18’s and two Under 16’s from each of the Channel League Counties (Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Gwent, Somerset and Wiltshire) with the best amalgamated five gross scores from six determining the winning team.

The overall scores are detailed below and Glamorgan won the over competition by one point beating Gloucestershire who came second.

362 (+2) Glamorgan

363 (+3) Gloucestershire

374 (+14) Wiltshire

378 (+18) Somerset

384 (+24) Gwent

So a very close result indeed and congratulations to the Gloucestershire boys on putting up such a great effort.

Ambrose Eaves won the prize for the best score on the day recording a gross 68 (-4), beating William Pontin from Glamorgan on countback so congratulations to Ambrose on  producing such great round.

Gloucestershire won the U18 Channel League for 2024 and will collect the Channel League Shield for the 2nd year running having shared it with Somerset last year.   

However, the Gloucestershire U16 team were not so successful in their Channel League which was won by Somerset this year.

Finally, a big thank you must go to the support provided by the parents who, throughout the year, have freely given their time to ferry the players to games and to cheer them on ... without them we wouldn’t have a county side so thank you!!!
