Nick Day had the difficult task of sleeping on a lead after a very competitive Day 1 at Chipping Sodbury GC (click here to view the news report for Day 1). The conditions were very similar to Day 1 which could be described as perfect golfing weather. There was lots to play for as the day unfolded.
After the mornings play Nick Day (Henbury) fired a 74 to add to his Day 1 total leaving him on a three round total of 215 (-1). Nick would subsequently be the man to catch going into the last round as Ash Millington (Players Club) managed a 71 which left him on a three round total of 217 and 2 behind Nick. Nathan Moore added 72 to his total to leave him also on 217. Mike Day carded a 74 which left him on 219 and within touching distance.
In Round 4 Nick produced another solid and steady round of 70 which gave him a 72 hole total of 285 (-3). This would see him crowned the 109th Gloucestershire Golf Union County Champion, a huge honour and he retains the title he won in 2024. We wish him the best of luck at the England Golf Champion of Champions event at Woodhall Spa later in the year.
In second place was Nathan Moore who's total of 287 left him 2 behind Nick. In third on 289 was Ash Millington. In fourth, fifth and sixth respectively were Mike Day, James Bath and Joel Tarry. Jaxson Perry was the highest place junior which saw him take home the Peter Scott trophy.
We are extremely grateful to everyone at Chipping Sodbury GC for allowing us the use of the immaculate golf course over the weekend and for their warm hospitality. We wish the club every success with the remainder of the golfing season. We are also grateful to all of the volunteers who gave up their time to ensure that the event was a success. We never take this for granted.
